Hey Mike... I see you had to update your age in your siggy. Then I checked the little cake under your pic and see that you had a birthday on the 7th. Mine was on the 1st. So Happy Birthday, fellow Aries!

(Sorry for the hijack, Julie)

Best wishes... Catherine

Julie,

Lymphocele are quite common after radical abdominal surgery (all kinds).

I had a few and they resolved with time. Size and symptoms are the key factors in determining treatment (if any).

Even though this paper is old, it is quite comprehensive in its discussion of lymphocele and the management of same.

Lymphocele

Here is another article about treating "symptomatic lymphocele": Postoperative Pelvic Lymphocele

Hi Julie... Great news on your bloodwork and Chest CT.

A CT scan is a wonderful tool for finding the bad stuff that needs to be taken care of, but reading the report is somewhat scary because it also finds every little thing that we normally would not or should not know about going on in our body. Hopefully that non-specific thing is a shadow or scar tissue, benign cyst, etc.

My last report showed deposits in my spleen, low-attenuation cyst on my liver, and a couple other minor things all of no particular concern to the doctors. Also two metallic clips in the right pelvic area which I did not know were in there. I asked my uro at my cysto Monday if those were his, and he said they were but I could keep them. Apparently they are used during removal/dissection of lymph nodes.

I know you are anxious to hear your surgeon's read on your scan. I will stay positive right along with you that all will be good next week!

Best wishes... Catherine

Well today my internist called and faxed me all my blood and CT results. The blood and chest CT looks GREAT ALL CLEAR!!!! the abdominal/pelvic CT shows a large cystic mass that is nonspecific.
It is adjacent to the surgical clips in my left pelvic. It may be a lymphocele. Has anyone had one of these and how did they treat them???? I still have moderate hydronephosis of the left kidney and ureter. The radiologists said it may be a superimposed infection ( I dont know what this is)so I will see my surgeon on Tues and he can look at the CT and let me know what he thinks of all the findings.
Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes this week. I am very positive and will let everyone know what happens next week
