Kaleen i don't know but i'm assuming your father is on Medicare and that means you can go pretty much whereever they accept Medicare....i know some centers are dropping it. A couple of suggestions. Firstly there is a major bladder cancer expert at the U. of Chicago which is not too far from you...he's pretty much encountered it all and is quite well known. Dr. Gary Steinberg
www.ucurology.org/faculty/gary-d-steinberg-md-facs
He's pretty much seen it all and would be a great second opinion.

Thank you. Madison Wisconsin. Where is the closest Major Center to Madison? How do you go about getting help from a major center do we need a referral? Thank you so much.

This is a very rare variant but it looks like they caught it early and there are treatments. I would advise going to a MAJOR center that deals with this. I don't know where you are located but let me know as you need to move on this quickly. Here is an article from urotoday. You will have to register to read it but its free.

My
Father age 89 (you would never know it very active, sharp as a tack) just had TURBT done to remove mass in bladder. We were told it is very aggressive cancer, Sarcomatoid. Urologist felt he got it all but of course there is risk that there are microscopic cells remaining. Lymph nodes show no spread and his lungs are clear. We were told this rare type of cancer does not respond to BCG or radiation and that they feel Radical Cystectomy would be too a difficult surgery at his age.

Is this it? Is there any help for him? He found out two days ago and we see a change in him already. We are both heartbroken beyond words. Please help if you can.

Oh, doctor did not give a stage, brom what I am reading, sounds like Stage II N0 MO G4?
