Miro...you are at the birthplace of cystectomy at USC/Norris...the doctors there are all in Who's Who and rated Top Docs in the US......pathology is outstanding..still doesn't hurt to ask questions. I'm guessing Daneshmand, Gill or Skinner maybe? If they have not suggested chemo first ask why?
They have a great PA there Dan Parks who is so accessible even when the doctors are not..as in surgery.
When lymphovascular invasion is identified in a transurethral bladder tumor resection sample, it will be present in the cystectomy sample in 65% of cases and associated with nodal metastasis in 41%. Lymphovascular invasion is a valuable histological tool in the evaluation of transurethral bladder tumor resection samples, particularly cT2 tumors, because there is significant agreement of lymphovascular invasion status at transurethral bladder tumor resection and at subsequent cystectomy. Now notice nodal metastasis in only 41%....
you're at a great place.

I said that wrong. I meant, I don't talk to offspring of patients about that. While you may be your father's child, I am sure you are no longer a child (no matter what he says). :D

Thanks again... all information (good and bad) is helpful. Dr. Skinner (i can't remember if he said she does 100/month or 100/year - but she's top notch :-) She doesn't waste time either...

Dr Daneshmand trained at USC and then was here in Portland at OHSU(Oregon Health Sciences University). He trained my urologist. When Dr. Stein died a year ago, Dr. Daneshmand was hired to take his place. Just recently, an article appeared in the LA TIMES about Dr. Danseshmand joining the faculty at USC and it stated that he was a "reknowned cancer specialist." He was so thrilled with that, he sent it back here to Oregon to see if anyone recognized him in the article!!

I'm no expert on doctor's but Patricia is the resident expert.

In another post to someone else she said that USC/Norris is the top.

Here is a link to her post and she posted links to the doctors as well. Doctors at USC/Norris

I'm not sure if its even worth having the slides re-read since they are going ahead with the RC (radical cystectomy). It would be best to ask that question of his urologist.

When is he scheduled for the surgery and do you know what diversion they are planning on? They never know for sure until they are in there but it's nice to have a plan.
