Abby, what a great post. I take strength from people like you who have gone through the before surgery doubts and the huge after surgery adjustments. I wanted to put a positive spin on my “CANCER FREE” diagnosis from my surgeon and did it with my yard sign. I wanted everyone to know the joy I feel as a result of the surgery. Keep up the good spirit & good work.

I'm 70, retired heat/air contractor. After 4 months of keymo ileal conduit (IC) surgery removed bladder & prostate May 2010

Well, I'm not able to get to the forum often enough but glad I did today; had a bit of a fight with the blues earlier but now my eyes are watering because I feel good; such sweet comments that touch my heart and urge me to continue on helping others as much as I possibly can. What a real joy it is to my soul to be able to do so...and honestly, when others allow me to help, well, I am the one who is truely blessed. The experience of it gives great joy and meaning to my life and energizes me even on my most demanding days. Looking forward to retirement in next couple of years so I can devote more time to assiting others in their fight against BC.

Abby - you look absolutely beautful...inside and out! And if you do need help with your diversion, take Rick up on his offer...I live near him and can get in touch with him if you have any problem making contact.

Gracie - you are a very special lady - earlier we talked about having a west coast get together...we're going to have to somehow do it. Life is precious and BC warrior friends are the best!

HUGS TO ALL... :)

Somehow it seems like a perfect time for me to remember Pat and Melodie and thank them for being there for me. I could not have made the right decisions or have gone through this experience without them.

Not a day goes by that I don't think of them. If I feel like I may be falling - I know they are there to catch me.

Angels do make a difference. I wonder if they know how special they are.

Abby,
As a fellow Illeal Conduit diversion receiver, I too have found that life is not close to being over. I am glad you have found your angel to talk to and you are an example of courage to those around you.
Since I am a three year experienced Illealed, if you need any "Tricks of the Trade" for sleeping with a night bag, pouch care, or how to include a bag as a wardrobe accessory; just ask.

Take Care
Rick
