I find that Tanqueray and Squirt is far superior to reducing mucous
but, it is hard to find an establishment that has Squirt anymore.
So I settle for tonic.

Through diligent research I have discovered that gin and tonic can greatly reduce mucous. I can only attest to Tanqueray and tonic with a bit lime. You will need to do your own experiments for other brands. :)

I would agree with KC. I also notice that if I'm starting with an infection the mucous builds up too. I was only advised to flush the neobladder for a short while after surgery.

I am almost 4 years out with a neobladder and mucus is less now than it was the first year or so. The only time I notice mucus now is if I get dehydrated. I have never noticed what I eat or drink making a differance in mucus other that drinking enough liquids to stay well hydrated.

Welcome to "the other side!"

All I can recommend is drink, drink, drink.
I drink a minimum of 64oz's of water & 16oz's of cranberry juice a day.
It does seem to help thin the mucus. Also I take Zantac (for heartburn) as perscribed by my surgeon, which has proved to thin mucus as well.
I have heard that cranberry pills may help also.
I am a about a year post op. for some reason i thought the mucus would be behind me, but it's not. No big deal. Still a small price to pay for life.

So drink, drink, drink. Walk, walk, walk.

Glad to hear you are doing so well so fast! That's great.

Some folks have found different things increase mucous but I haven't seen much difference one way of the other (for me).

Once the cath is out, you shouldn't have to worry. It will drain out. Mucous is viscous so it will manage to come out of the opening available. :)

Keep up the walking. All the best for a continued great recovery.
