Moglie...that is exactly the regimen we use here in the states.....Gemzar/Cisplatin for 3 cycles..and a waiting period for cystectomy.
Many here have had that regimen...some before, some after as the affected nodes were not seen prior to cystectomy. Its tough and Mum will be tired and need lots of support. They will moniter her blood counts continually.
Here's to a good fight!!

Thanks Andy for your kind reply.

We must have hope that the chemo will work and shrink the node so that they can do the RC. Mum remains positive, as she said, she has not choice but to go for it and fight this disease.

Even though she was G3, I was quite pleased it was TCC, as I gather this has a better response to chemo.

Hi Moglie

Glad you're finally getting some answers. I think what your doctor is saying is pretty consistent with what would happen here in the States. I was told if there was any node involvement or if it was in the muscle wall of the bladder(T2) I would need chemo before an RC. I was fortunate in that I was T1 with no node involvement and went straight to an RC. Hope this helps!

Best of luck to you and your mum.

Andy
