Edema can be controlled with lymphatic massage, but one has to be consistent and conscientious about doing it. One advantage to doing lymphatic massage is that one can massage themselves or be massaged. Can't stress enough that if you have had a lymphectomy find a certified massage therapist.

Thanks for the link. She had 30 lymph nodes removed (surgery 1 Nov 07) and after reading Cythia's lymphodema link, we need to be more proactive.

What you are asking about may be the condition Lymphedema that is seen at times following lymph node dissection. Here is a link to the Wikipedia's listing on the subject. Some have found that finding a certified lymphedema therapist can really help.

Do not know the number removed. In the lower left leg. Swells 2x more than the right leg. Dr is aware and feels it will go down in time; however, it hasn't. We have tried wraps, support hose and white embolism stockings.

How many lymph nodes removed? How bad is the edema and where is it located?
I had mild swelling in my left lower leg after surgery but very minor. Have you contacted your doctor? Pat
