When I had my RC we went to Chicago for five weeks, we are from MA. We rented a corporate apartment and it worked out for us very well. We were gived the information from on of the Onoco. Social Workers there to find the rental.
We spent the week in Boston for about eight weeks when I did chemo and radiation. Again the Onoco. Social Workers gave us information on short term furnished rentals and hotels with discount rates. When you are in NY tell them you need housing information, I would be suprised if they do not have someone to help you. These large hospitals have a lot of out of town and internatioal people coming and going for treatment that have the same issues as you do.

Bali,

I don't know if you saw Patricia's post above, but, she is familiar with your Doctor at Sloan and has faith in him. It is always good to get a personal kind of endorsement.

August 8th is not so far away. Sounds like you are going to be on the road a lot.

Just know that we will be thinking of you and hoping for the best. Please keep us posted when you can.

Your BLC friend,

Rosemary,
One other thing about IC. My husband was urinating frequently and had pelvic pain. He went to his urologist several times but nothing helped. I kept telling him that it might be interstitial cystitis. Well, the uro didn't think so but my husband persisted and the doctor finally tested!!

Bali you are with a top notch surgeon at MSK and top notch pathologists. My guess is they saw muscle invasion on the slides you brought to them and probably have you at a T2 progression. These guys are not likely to be wrong. Doing the repeat TURB is exactly what they should be doing. It certainly saved my life being treated there after being botched locally. There are 7 doctors at that institution that do NOTHING but bladder cancer. There are many places in the city not far from MSK that offer discounts to patients..its still expensive as its NYC but you might want to look for a rental in either N. Jersey or Long Island for recovery. I know that newbie from Ireland has done just that for her father for his RC. You might want to IM her and find out her resources. The hospital social services can help also. Dr. Bochner is also her fathers surgeon.

Bali,

An interesting idea, but no one has ever mentioned the possibility of interstitial cystitis to me. I'll check in to it. Thanks...

Rosemary, I forgot to mention to you that it sounds like you have interstitial cystitis too. Have you ever been tested? There is medication and other things that help tremendously.
