Thankyou so much Peter, unfortunatly Dad isnt into the internet, emails, forums etc too much, I am sure he would find it invaluable if he were to join in, It is so nice to know that people care about others & what others are going through, I like to keep everyone here in my prayers & thoughts, I wish everyone all the best whether they are the one with the cancer or the family & friends of those going through it,

Regards,
Cathy.

Hi Cathy,

Your Dad can PM or E-mail me anytime if he needs help on something or wants to talk. Your Dad may not have much pain but keep his spirits up. I got depressed quickly when the realization hit me regarding my R/C in 11/07, the bag and cancer survival rates. It took time for me to get back to normal emotionally. Positive results from my 90-day check-up helped me tremendously. Tell your Dad to hang in there as there are a lot of people in the same boat who are doing just fine.

Regards,

Peter Konomos

Thanks so much Ginger, it is wonderfull to know help & advice is only a mouse click away, I dont know how but he says that he hasnt had much pain, he is one tough cookie & doesnt like to complain, we have told him that pain is expected & it is alright to say your not to good, he does have a stoma nurse that he sees once a week, but because of infection in the wound he is having a nurse call in daily for re dressing & re packing the wound. So far I think he isnt having any troubles with the bag, well none that he is talking about anyway, so hopefully its all good, I still cant believe how well he is doing apart from the infection, but fingers crossed he will be over that soon enough.
Thanks once again to all the thoughts & prayers people have sent our way it is truly apprechiated. I am certainly thinking of you all. ;)
regards,
Cathy.

Hi Cathy,
Seems you had quite a time in the hospital. Thats why each case is so unique, now he is in recovery. I have all kinds of bag ideas, don't get discouraged if you haven't found the right one yet. Does he have stoma nurses?? tHEY CAME TWICE A WEEK FOR US, DEALING WITH CHANGING THE BAG. iT WAS NICE TO KNOW WE WEREN'T ENTIRELY IN CHARGE OF IT AT FIRST, AND HAD ALL THERE HELP!! Remember theres lots of aches and pains that pop up, address them as they come, just because of all the digging in the surgery area.. take care and if you have any bag problems we now have Rick, Gene, and Peter K., the BAGMEN of the forum....Ginger

Thanks Gracie & margot, Dad is still doing really well although his wound is infected, requiring the nurse to come daily & pack it & dress it.
Margot, thankfully dad doesnt have to have chemo as the path results were really good, cancer was found in all areas removed, but was all still contanined to those areas.
Regards,
Cathy

Cathy - So glad to hear that your dad is home and on the mend. His hospital experience brought back a few unpleasant memories for us as Harry's hopstial stay lasted 28 days due to his bowels NOT wanting to WAKE UP! and an infection!! But once Harry was home things slowly but surely got better...and so will things for your dad. Ginger will, no doubt, have suggestions for you regarding the outside bag, since Gene has one. You didn't mention if chemo has been recommended, something that Harry also endured but he got through that as well and is now back to work and doing well..I'm sure being home and in his own bed will do your dad a world of good...we'll keep him in prayer. Margot (and Harry)
