I agree with Pat, our scenario could not be yours, it depends on how much scraping and your surgeon, you may not have a cath but then you may. All in all its an individuals personal situation, but be ready for the best and the worst being going home with a cath..even with the cath your completely mobile!!!Ginger

The TURB seems to vary and i don't know truthfully if it is the skill of the surgeon..the amount of tumors...or what the variable is or even if male or female.
I had absolutely no pain, no after effects, and went home 30 minutes after i woke up.
Others have had more problems. I just saw Gingers post so now i'm leaning toward the surgeon being the variable.......Pat

Grandpa,
My husband stayed overnite for his turb, but this is not always the case. He had extensive scraping as his tumor was 4 cmm, , he came home with a cath, for 12 days, this also is not always the case. He had to have another turb at the Cleveland Clinic 4 weeks later, so he stayed home and prepared for surgery Sept. 14th. The second turb he stayed over but came home without a cath and was able to do anythng right away. First turb July 3rd, second August 19th, surgery Sept. 14. The worst part of it all, the waiting!!!..Ginger

grampadougnut,

If you are Connecticut, your best bet will probably be Sloan Kettering, possibly NY Presbyterian/Cornell Med. Center. Remember you will not be going daily unless you are on a clinical trial, or receiving radiation. Other than that the most you will get is once a week for a time. Then of course the hospital stay for the surgery, then again the most will be once a week after that. If you get Chemo, it is possible to get treatment closer to home, as long as they are using the same protocol that the MAIN Dr is recommending. Conn. to NY by train is no big deal. Quite a few people commute that way daily. You will be in a fantastic part of the country for treating this cancer, and the ability to have family nearby is such a bonus. I say get there ASAP. Sometimes it takes awhile to get appointments with these top Dr's I would try to get that going now. You can plan the rest of your trip around the appointment.

Good Luck,
Karn
