do you mean in the neobladder itself betsy? urethral/upper urinary tract recurrence is a possibility that has to be watched out for. the epithelium that lines the bladder also extends into these areas and is potentially subject to the same changes though not with the same frequency. Im not sure of the exact figures but my doc quoted me a figure of 2% chance of recurrence for my grade and stage. I don't know how accurate that is. but as with the bladder, early detection makes cure more likely so it's good to keep up with the checks.

Hi All!

I have just returned from a successful 7 month check up post neobladder surgery. On discussing future tests my consultant told me I will need another cystoscopy because "there is a strong chance of cancer occurring in replaced parts following surgery". I am sure this is news to me and have no recollection of him mentioning this possibility before. I have not read much about this - has anyone else?
