When to RC

Hello Jeff,

As you've doubtless read here more than once, having your RC (and yes, I'm echoing Dale's sentiments) at a major cancer center by an experienced surgeon is your most important card in the hand you've been recently dealt.

Where do you live? Perhaps some of the members can give you a recommendation.

Best,

Zach

Afterthought--I saw in another post you asked about wearing a bag. Have you or your urologist ruled out a neobladder?
If you have any questions I can help with, I'd be happy to give you my experience with this stuff. I'm going to PM you my cell number.

Thank you Dale. I have my post test Uro appointment next week and I am sure that what will be recommended. Sounds like everything is going well with you.

Jeff,

I had the same question and so I checked with three doctors who all said no matter how many doctors I checked with they will all say that once the cancer gets in the muscle it must come out. I had mine removed on 12-3-07 in Houston by Dr. Seth Lerner and I was back at work in 4 weeks but I am 50 which is a little younger than most RC patients.

I know this may be redundant for many on the forum. But I would like to pose the following question: When is a RC necessary when stage T2? In other words, if the tumor is in deep muscle, per the 03/05/2008 lab report, and 3.6 X 3.2 x 3.2 cm...should you try chemotherapy or should you just submit to an RC. Partial is not an option since it is in the bladder neck. 03/20/2008 CT's are clean outside the bladder. Bone scan is clean. A CT 5 months ago showed it in labia propria at 5X 4 X 2.5 cm. It would seem to me that I would be pushing the envelope to try and save the bladder at this point. Thanks.

Jeff
