Thanks for the posts. I went in Thursday for a CT scan with contrast. My urologist told me that from what he could see the CT looked good. I pinned him down on EXACTLY what he thinks he sees and he told me that he believes that it is cancer, but will not know much more until biopsy results. I find it like therapy to get on here and read. I feel that knowledge is power and I'm trying to find out all I can. I cried off and on for two days, before I was able to let go and allow God to handle it. Since then I have been able to talk about it with out being a crybaby. Don't get me wrong......I still have my moments. I would really like to talk more with some who are going through this right know. I still have sooooo many questions!

Hi I found out about 6 weeks ago I had BC.  I am 35 and have a 4 1/2 yr old and 18 month old.  The waiting is a bad part, it took about a week to get my results.  My doctor never gave me a clue that my biopsy could be cancer.  I think I wish he would have told me it could be a possibility, then I wouldn't have been so stunned when it happened.  I changed doctors and I start chemo Monday.  I hope your results are good.

Good Luck

Hi

From my experience pathology usually is pretty quick I found out 48 hours after the surgery. My tumor was exactly what the urologist thought it was. I know that you can have something done during the procedure called a frozen section. I am not really sure what that is but I know that they know right away whether or not the tumor is cancer however, I don't think you find out type and grade from that. My mom had breast cancer and the doctor actually did the frozen section during the surgery. From the results he decided what to do while my mom was still under anesthesia. When she woke up he told her that she had cancer but it was not a death sentence! My mom has been cancer free for five years. I was diagnosed with bladder cancer 2 weeks ago and I also don't fit the profile 26 year old female.

Good luck to you,

Alyssa

I know, waiting is the hardest part.... :-/ but I will pray your results are the best they can be. My urologist said to me "if I was going to be diagnosed with cancer, this is the kind i would want". That was very encouraging!

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping to know something immediately. I think waiting is the hard part. Please pray that my results will be as good as yours. I've never smoked a day in my life....however I was raised by 2 smokers (imagine that). I'm trying keep a positive out look, but I'm one of those people that has to research everything ahead of time. Once again thanks for the post.

My biopsy results took a week, but that's because they were over last Christmas.... I had the resection done after the CAT scan; biopsy was done on the tumors they removed from the resection. I hope you get good results...mine were - the tumor was HUGE, almost filled the bladder, but was Stage Ta, Grade 0 - meaning, I have my first six month checkup this month - very little chance of changing to an aggressive cancer, but good chance of returning over and over - no chemo, no radiation - it won't kill me, and I won't lose my bladder. Keep a good outlook - by the way, I am a nonsmoking 47 year old female... don't fit the profile either!

Keep the faith.
