Doglover,

Most of us will pass from other causes than BC. AS many of us are 50+ when diagnosed BC does create an image of bladder cancer being the cause but, that is the minority. You will likely live a "normal" life span assuming general health and habits are good.

Alan,
Thank you so much. I have a CT scan tomorrow (with contrast for which I must take benadryl and steroids). The doctor agreed to fit me in this Friday because I was diagnosed with a mass.
I am praying, and other are for me as well.
Everything I read seemed to indicate that you have only 5 years to live when you are diagnosed. Congratulations on your ten years! I am glad to hear that there are many here that are 10 year survivors. I had two friends who were not so fortunate.

The radiologist is probably preparing you for the possibility it is a tumor based on their experience. It is NOT a certainty. There have been several posters here that have found many other caused. We will be happy to say good to know you but, go live the rest of your life cancer free! I have learned too many times in my life and others worry is a waste, concern yes. You just won't know what you are dealing with until all the tests are in. IF it is bladder cancer, it is very treatable and beatable. There are several that monitor this board as examples of 10 years cancer free, me included.

Thank you Alan. The report on the ultrasound said "there is 18 x 11 mm mass in the posterior right side bladder suspicious for malignancy. " Why would they suggest it is malignant? There is nothing else in the report.

Doglover,

Welcome. As far as actual mass from what I have read it would be considered smaller than average. However, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Oct 15 is not a long wait, not even 2 weeks. You don't even know if it is a tumor and if it is what grade etc. Easy for me to say now but, take one day at a time. That is all you can control. It could be many other things from stone irritation, blood or simply some kind of cyst. I presume you will be getting a cystoscope and probably a TURB to see what this "mass" is. Pathology will be the key and until that is done we just have to wait. Here is hoping for the best possible outcome....no cancer!

Keep posting as you have questions, some one will see it!

I am still in shock. I had gross blood a week ago one time, and then an ultrasound was done. Ultrasound results were received yesterday that indicated a mass in the upper right of my bladder that were 18mm by 11mm. Is this a very large mass, or advanced mass?
I had a CT scan done in December that did not reveal anything in pelvic area or organs. Bladder was 'unremarkable'. Can bladder cancer move this quickly?
I don't even have an appointment with urologist until the 15th. Is that a long time to wait? Would greatly appreciate any information from those who have gone through a diagnosis and treatment.
