Hi Joe,

I want to wish you much success with your choice. I know a guy who is 7 years out and cancer free, had the same diagnosis as you. His story is here:
blcwebcafe.org/stories/mmann.asp

I'm surprised to hear the doctors involved aren't using your case in the ongoing trials out of Mass. Gen., but maybe your results will count somewhere...

blcwebcafe.org/combinedmodalities.asp - WebCafe's page on the combined modalities (of TUR+chemo+radiation).

Please let us know how things go.
All the best,
Wendy

Thanks Joe......its worth a try. When i consulted with Mass Gen they said they would know pretty quickly if it was working or not and they also promised me i would not get sick or lose my hair which i found pretty impressive. Looks like they're using the same protocal. I know a Rabbi here in Cinti that had the bladder preserving treatment at MassGen and he's still cancer free and he was in on the beginnings of the trial so its been about l5 yrs? So good luck..........Pat

nope no trail, this is the treatment that is used at BMC in pittsfield, ma. of course im a firm beliver in using all treatments availible. but Umass medicle center also usies this approach, its bladder saving in about 35 % of patients. and due to family history in response to chemo and radiation, it may be a good thing. But realise , im fuly prepeared to go the radicle route if nessesary, so options are few but i can only lose my bladder once, also the turmpor has been removed a week ago, also this is or was a t2 tumor

hmmm...joe..this sounds like a "trial" study to me. Only successful chemo/rad therapy i've heard of is at Mass General and thats only on T2 tumors. Where is this protocal coming from? Just curious.........Pat

this is the course of action, chemo, rad and then see if has remissed, if it has every 3 months take a look, if nontransitional shows up, remove and continue on, if invasive then remove the bladder, thanks for your response
