Welcome to the forum !

I suspect that your tumor was NOT stage 4..... as that would be about as bad a diagnosis as you could get . Rather it appears that you must have had very early low grade bladder cancer . The usual treatment for this is just what you had . The tumor is removed and then the situation is watched closely .

You have just learned of the nasty little secret of low-grade bladder cancer and that is that it has a habit of returning . That is why it is so important to be sure that you are examined frequently .The usual protocol is for cystoscopy every three months for two years and then every six months until five years of past and then annually forever . If as in your case a recurrence is found the clock resets . It seems as if your urologist waited six months for an exam or was this your second since the tumor was removed ?

If the cancer returns a second time a new approach is definitely indicated . Very often this would be BCG treatments . If it does return you might seriously want to consider getting a second opinion at a major cancer treatment center . Because while it may be a low-grade the fact that it keeps coming back would be worrisome .

Wishing you all the best

Sara Anne

had microscopic blood cells found in urine in 10/16 removed tumor 01/17 less than size of a dime. Just went for check up and was told has extremely small polyp and would remove this time by laser as it was so small and would only take several seconds to laser it off. Was told the first tumor was stage 4 with low grade of the low grade . Any thoughts on this or suggestions. Might add that I am 80 years old and in very good health otherwise. I am located in Lake City Fl and go to the VA in Gainesville FL. I am very satisfied with my Doctor and feel very comfortable with him Any thoughts or recommendations will be appreciated
