Yes, medical terminology can be "confusing." Yes, it is a biopsy, but just calling it that would be too simple...patients might understand it!

Thank you for your reply. Yes l, I am having a cystoscope with the TURB. I wasn't sure what it was called. I thought it was a biopsy.

So sorry to hear about these issues. At least the tests they are planning should give a clearer picture of what is going on.

Are you sure that the procedure you are having is a cystoscopy? Usually, general anesthesia is only used for a TURB (transurethral resection of the bladder) where samples are taken to be sent to a pathologist. This is the only way that a definitive diagnosis can be made.

Until you have the pathology report back (and it can take a few days)
you really can't know what is there, if anything. All I can advise is that you try not to worry about all the "what ifs" for now....easy for me to say, I know!

Please let us know the results....

Wishing you the best

Hello! I am new to this forum and hope that I can ask these questions properly. This past week, I saw a Urologist for the first time because I have had chronic symptoms for about 13 months that we initially thought were Gyn issues but everything was clear in that area. During my first visit I had urine tests to check for a UTI, but that was negative(no history of UTIs). My Urologist sent me for an ultrasound same day as my first appointment. The ultrasound showed that my bladder wall was ranging from 9mm-11mm thick with a full bladder. I am scheduled for a cystoscope this Friday. They are putting me under anesthesia. I'm not sure what is going on and I literally can't sleep. I haven't found any information on this extent of bladder wall thickness. Anyone have any ideas or information that could help ease my mind?

Thank you!
