My name is Jeff and I'm from NJ. After having urinary symptoms for a couple of months and then seeing some blood in the urine, I saw a urologist. We initially thought I had prostatitis, but the cytology tests came back with abnormal cells, so we scheduled a CT scan. The scan revealed a 3 cm tumor in the bladder.
I had TURBT on Dec 17th and I have a follow-up appt on Jan 7. I am hoping the bladder is "clean", but I have not heard back about the follow-up report yet. The holidays have slowed things down and my doctor went away for vacation. He told my wife after the surgery that he "didn't think" the cancer went deep into the bladder wall, but he could not be sure. I'm hoping for a good report and the standard follow-up at 3 months, but with cancer you never know... I'm still not quite sure of grade or stage yet since I have not had the follow-up appointment.
If he tells me it is clear of cancer, I'm wondering if I should go get a second opinion or just do the follow-up cystoscopy at 3 months.
