Mr. Tom,

prayers help..keep hope.

FYI:

Several months ago, I was diagnosed with kidney and ureter cancer.

Specifically, Urothelial Carcinoma In Situ in the mid, proximal, distal areas of my right ureter.

In addition, right renal pelvis,

There was questions about of atypical urothelial cells in my right kidney and right ureter.

I got 2nd opinion that was life altering at Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center in New York, or you can go to any N C I designated cancer centers for a 2nd opinion that is be best for you. Not sure where you are located.

Just to let you know, based upon the original diagnosed, doctors were prep to removed my one remaining kidney, and right ureter......thus I would be on a machine.

My 2nd opinion positively change all that for the better... please get a 2nd opinion fast......, your cancer is very, very rare for men.....

Thanks for your response.

I was hoping there were other uretheral cancer patients here as my urologist described this as a type of bladder cancer.

Oh well, maybe someone will pop up.

Tom

Tom, I am sorry you have to be here but you are welcome to our community. Urethral Cancer is very rare and while it is a Urological cancer it is not bladder cancer. You are more than welcome here and I there are some similarities I am sure but we as a group know bladder cancer better but having said that we are here for you if we can help.
Having any cancer diagnosis will get a strong suggestion that you get a second opinion at a major center of excellence. With yours being a rare one I would think it would be even more important to get one. What state are you in we would be happy to make suggestions.

Hi everyone:

My name is Tom and I have received confirmation that I have Urethral Cancer located on my right side at and around the kidney.

I am a VietNam veteran receiving VA Health Care services. They have diagnosed the cancer via a Cat Scan, Urinalysis, and ureteroscopy and biopsy.

I met with a Urologist last week and the preliminary treatment plan is 3 chemo sessions over 3 months and then removal of the kidney and duct to the bladder. Meeting with an Oncologist on Oct. 20 to finalize treatment plan.

This is all new to me. Does this make sense and is it reasonable? Are there any other VietNam vets here who have gone through this and is it Agent Orange connected?

Any and all advice is welcomed.

Thanks
Tom
