Hi all: I just started my second 3 week maintenance of BCG yesterday, 11/18. It was a 4 month time frame as there was a bucket list vacation that lasted 2 months, with no health problems during the trip. I remember when I left there was discussion about holding the BCG for the 2 hour period, cutting the dose, etc., as I had to bail out about 1 1/2 hours into it 4 month ago. So, this time I started to cut back on my fluid intake around 6pm that evening after being well hydrated all day long. I'm no doctor or anything, but the BCG treatment went very well, lasted all 2 hours and of course the burning and urgency, well, there's no way to completely get around that?

I figure the BCG is rough on the bladder, is that the reason they eventually cut back to every 6 months or even longer as the years go by? If every 3 or 4 months is keeping BC from coming back, I'm all for it, not looking forward to it, but all for it!

Hello:

Finished my BCG maintenance last month, cystoscopy last Friday, the 21st and the pathology report came back this morning, NO cancer cells detected! Now to take my psychiatrists advice, forget about the cancer until the next BCG treatment comes around and get back to normal routines. Had to think about that for a while because the first thing I thought of when I got the pathology report was to schedule my next BCG maintenance. I will do that and then get back to as normal as possible. I'm really thankful for BCG, the maintenance program and THIS FORUM!!! Take care, Jay

The cliché of "one day at a time" is still true. That is all anyone can control in life and, I am not sure we have much control on that!

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

I know that you have been on this site to know that panic will not work in the fight with cancer. I am so glad you posted this. Everyone goes through the same emotions that you have, and that deeeeeep breath is our most popular recommendation.

Seriously, Thank you.
It's not all good news, or all bad news. It's news that must be delt with.
And you did it very well
