Thank you for replying! I live in Alpharetta, GA, close to Atlanta. Anyone with a recommendation on a specialist for woman bladder cancer would be great! I'm having a difficult time finding the Treatment Finder link under the home page. I really need to move forward and would like a second opinion. Thanks everyone. ..blessings!

Before making any definite plans and choices for a diversion, you really want to seek a second opinion at a major bladder cancer center that specializes in treatment of this condition, particularly in women. This is a complicated surgery and you want the very best. There are also multiple options for the type of diversion you chose and you want to be sure that you know what is available and what might work best in your case.

While CTCA does treat a lot of cancer, this for-profit chain is not noted for specific expertise in bladder cancer. On our home page there is a link to a
Treatment Center Finder where you can find places near you geographically. Or if you post your location, others may have suggestions.

Wishing you the best of luck

Sara Anne

Thank you. I am working with Cancer Treatment Center of America. Going for a second opinion this week. Been to a few urologist and gynocologist before the diagnosis. I have a few upcoming appointments this week...I cannot believe how overwhelmed i feel! Blessings to your husband and yourself!

Dear Jennybg3,

I'm sorry you are facing this situation and am glad you found the forum. It has been very helpful to me since my husband's recent diagnosis (CIS non-invasive).

Are you working with a National Center of Excellence hospital or a bladder cancer specialist who sees lots of BC patients? That forum feedback helped us with switching from the local urologist to a specialist at Johns Hopkins two hours away by car. Working with a bladder cancer expert has brought peace of mind to my husband and myself.

Husband's journey:
01/2015 1st cystoscopy
03&04/2015 TURBTs-CIS
07/2015 Finished BCGx6
08/2015 biopsy-BENIGN!
10/2015 Finished BCGx3
12/2015 Cysto, redness
01/2016 TURBT, Benign
04/2016 Cysto
05/2016 Finished BCGx3
07&11/2016 Cysto's
1/2017 Finished BCGx3
2/2017 Cysto, redness
3/2017 TURBT, Cysto due 9/2017

Hello! I hope that I am posting properly. I am a 41 year old female diagnosed on 5/15/15 with HG invasive (extend unknown) BC. My CT and MRI do not show it outside of my bladder. The tumor was removed last Friday. Now I have to meet with a medical oncologist and surgeon again for bladder removal....I'm so new to this and would love some direction. Is chemo before surgery normal? Any help would be appreciated!
