You are headed in the right direction by getting a specialist, a urologist. Have you had a cystoscope? That test looks into the bladder? Used in conjunction with the cytology and CT scans that you have had should give a complete picture. As none of us are doctors, even a sub specialist may be needed. I am not up to speed on interstitial cystitis other than there isn't a lot of knowledge on its causes. I know it is painful. Sometimes bleeding is caused with unknown causes. Joggers sometimes incur this jostling their body and it is thought that is a cause. In your case with more hematuria it is probably something else such as cystitis. Perhaps one of the women that watch this forum will have more insight and I hope you get relief.

Hi I'm new to the group. I have not been dx with bladder cancer but I have a few questions.

I am a 32 year old female, never smoked, drank or did drugs. I Have worked as a cosmologists for 10 years, now currently a new LPN. I run 5-6 miles a day, don't eat that great but not awful and I have 3 kids.

For about 2 years now I have had pelvic pain on and off, CT scans that are normal and microscopic blood in my urine. I've been treated for uti symptoms but very rarely do my urine cultures come back with bacteria.

I finally got tired of going into the Dr for this discomfort so I bought some urine strips to test my urine for infection. For the past 3 months I have had a large amount of microscopic blood in my urine and on occasion darker orange red urine, sometimes even like a coke colored. I started noticing small specks of blood in my urine also.

I have had lab tests done, urine cytology and CT scans. On paper I look great ( my last CT showed I had multiple cysts on one of my kidneys. But the Dr said that wouldn't cause my discomfort and blood) sometimes when I urinate I have a hard time starting and after I'm,done urinating I have discomfort not severe pain just an uncomfortable feeling.

My Dr said even though things look okay I need to see the urologist because the amount if blood in my urine is not normal. I go see the urologist in a few weeks.

I have a hx of kidney stones, but my CT scan shows a couple stones in my kidneys that aren't big and are non obstructing so that should not be the cause of the blood in my urine ( so I've been told)

I will get this awful pain in my lower abd right where my bladder is. If I'm driving and hit a bump it hurts so bad. The pain comes and goes so I wonder if it could be interstitial cystitis or possibly bladder cancer. Can anyone shed some light?

I am sorry if I'm,jumping around trying to,describe my story. I just need some advice. Thank you in advance.
