Yes, BCG is the treatment of choice for bladder cancer that has not progressed into the muscle. It is especially effective if the initial 6 week course of treatment is followed by a series of maintenance instillations.

There is a lot of information about BCG on this Forum and web site. Go to the home page and type "BCG" in the search box.

Best of luck to you and your mother

Hi all,

I'm new here and glad to find this place.

My mother (54 yo) has been diagnosed with BC in July in East Africa. The urologist did TURBT and gave her single installation of Mytomycin. She went back for the results, she was staged as T1, the tumor was 2cm. Urologist is suggesting that she should start a six weeks/once per week BCG treatment.

Is this a normal procedure and does it work?

Thank you all for your help.

Tanzie
