Hello James... Welcome to the forum but so sorry you had to find us under these circumstances. I am curious what they based their assessment on to say she has mets to the liver before they got her biopsy results back. It is not uncommon to have benign cysts on the liver which show up in CT scans. As far as the bladder TCC, there are well established treatments for that often with very good outcomes.

I so hope that is the case for your Mum. Please let us know what you learn today and then perhaps we can respond more specifically to your questions.

Best wishes...
Catherine

Hi

I am new to this forum but could do with some support and/or words of encouragement. My mother is in her late 50s and recently had some blood in her urine. She has no other symptoms at all. She has had a CT scan and the results are small tumour consistent with TCC (also know as UCC) in her Kidney with mets to her liver. There are three small lesions in her liver <2.5 cm. She had a biopsy on her liver last week and we are due to get the results later today. I am praying that this come back low grade (or even benign if this is even possible!!). I understand that this was to assess the grade/stage of the cancer which will help determine the best treatment.

We are really devastated with the scan results scared of what the future holds. I understand that this type of cancer is very rare and is more like a form of bladder cancer (hence me posting here).

I have read that your chances are improved significantly with surgery but surgery is a less common approach once the cancer had spread. Has anyone had surgery with mets to liver?

I was wondering if any of you could share any of your experiences with me. I am interested in the types of meds that she might be given, possible side effects and any words of encouragement.

Thanks
James x
