Waiting for full results but wont let it beat me

I'm guessing the "chemo" you refer to was a mitomycin wash that they did at the end of the TURBT?

Good luck with the pathology results. Hopefully, it is low grade non-invasive. That will be monitoring (as you likely already know).

It is great that you have the support of family, faculty, and schoolmates! That's a lot of positive energy floating around in addition to what you already had.

Congrats on your exams also!!!! Fantastic scores that you can be proud of!

Let us know when you get your pathology results back. As you may know, there is typically a follow up TURBT after 6-8 weeks because bladder cancer is often under-staged.

I have been following your forums for a few days now and have been getting a lot of inner strengeth from your comments to each other.

I am a 47 year old man with a wonderful supportive wife and two great teenage kids.We live on a small island in the Irish sea which is very beautiful. So I feel very lucky.

8 weeks ago I went to the Drs with complaints of increased urgency when I pass urine, he told me to cut down on my cafine . 2 weeks later noticed my urine was slightly discoloured and as I am a community nurse I checked it with my testing kit. It showed I had blood in it ,so of to the Drs I went again.
This time he sent me for a cystoscopy.
Like the rest of you I was shocked to get the results, as soon as I seen the screen as procedure was being carried out I new I had a tumor.

Last week I had TURBT and had some chemo. The hospital staff where excellent and I have a wonderful Urology nurse specialist who will be following me up.
Still in shock but did not let this take over my life.
It could not have occured a more stressful time as I was completing my Non Medical Prescribing paper as the final part of my degree. Had 3 weeks to complete the work. Rather than let this cancer take me over I contacted my university teacher . She told me I could put the course off for 6 months, but this was not what I wanted , I needed to focus on something other than the cancer diagnosis. There has been tearful times over the last few weeks , but they dont last long . It has been good for me having something else to focus on. Family and friends have been so supportive.

Last Thursday I came out of hospital after the opperation and treatment, 4 days later I was in the university doing my final paper . As I went into the class all my colleagues cheared and applauded me as know one expected me to turn up for the finals. It was hard work but I feel really good not letting the cancer rule my life.
I got my provisional results of the exams today,
I scored 96% in the exam and 100% on the practical. It blew me away.

Now I am just waiting for the results of my pathology to see if there is any signs of the cells in the muscle wall,they should arrive in a few weeks.
Plan to start back to work next week and get on with things as normal. Yes I will have to go for regular check ups and may need further treatment, but life is for living. Will keep in touch with this forum as looking for tips on keeping healthy .
