Hi

First of all, I just want to say thank you for this forum and for any responses.

My husband has not been diagnosed with cancer - but, he has been having horrible symptoms of something going on and I just wanted advice as to whether or not the doctor's could have missed something.

Here is what has been going on:

1. Three years ago my husband started to feel a constant need to urinate - but, he was under a huge amount of stress at the time and since it went away within a few days, he dismissed it.

2. Two years ago - he probably developed an anal fissure - he has had discomfort for the last two years and has been self medicating with nupercanial 3-4 times per week.

3. In the last year, he became concerned about his weight and made an effort to lose 20 pounds - he was extremely successful - he lost even more.

4. In December 2006, he started to experience the constant feeling of the need to urinate again. He also has blood in his urine - not visible to him but found in the urinalysis. A UTI was ruled out. He went to a urologist and had cat scans and a cystoscopy performed. Everything came back negative. Antibiotics haven't helped. He went to a second urologist who basically said that the first urologist did too many tests for his symptoms and didn't examine him at all or review his cat scans. Both urologists told him that it could be psychosomatic. But, it's been going on for three months now. I know that it isn't - there's something physically going on with him. I just don't see how the urologist could have missed it. I guess that it is possible - does anyone have any thoughts on whether or not a missed diagnosis is common in this kind of situation?

5. In January, he had rectal bleeding and was diagnosed with the fissure. He failed to ask the doctor if there may be any connection with the fissure and his other problems. Does anyone know if there may be a connection?

Thank you again for your help. I am just so worried - it just seems that with the symptoms, the weight loss (even though he might have just lost what he was trying to and then the stress led to the rest), and the added symptom of occasional discomfort in his lymph nodes something has to be going on. I wish everyone the best and most importantly good health.

Kathy
