Allan, I will start BCG treatment number 22 one week from today. I get most of the symptoms, chills, burning when going, frequency, fatigue, fever, and throw in a few others. However within 2 days I am back to normal, just a little tired maybe. It must be doint its job as I just past the three year mark since a recurrence.

good luck

Joey

Alanlee, it's good to hear from you. Sorry you may need the bcg, but
if it works for you it will be a blessing! as far as problems from the bcg, for me only a little flu like feeling. As for the cath for the bcg, it is small so not to painful, but i sill cheated and learned to take a pain pill before. Hope all goes well for you.

I would ditto Sarah Anne. There has to be a participating BCG Uro around Taos! What a beautiful area! We sometimes to go to Ruidoso for a short week. For most BCG is a nuisance and no fun but, a small price to pay.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

IMHO, should you need BCG, AND should there be a cooperating uro near your New Mexico place who is willing to work with your primary doc, it could be very doable.

The side effects at first are mainly irritability in the bladder...you will probably have a bit of burning and "I have to go NOW" feelings. The day after or so a bit of fatigue. These effects do get a bit worse as your body starts to "resist" the BCG and fights back...this is what you are hoping for, since it means the immune system has kicked in and is fighting the cancer as well.

You won't want to have to drive more than about 20-30 minutes back home after the treatments.
