I am sorry for not reporting back to the group about my surgery but I was waiting for the lab report and here it all is.
Had surgery to remove tumor on the 1st. Stayed in hospital over night. Doctor remarked that the tumor was large and that he had to go deep in the wall to get it all. Waited on pins and needles till report came back. According to the doctor he said he got all the tumor and that it was cancer but that he got it all and lab report says no other cancer detected. No treatments or surgery is needed and that I need to go back in three months to be tested.
I can't tell you all what this group has meant to me in the short period I have been here but I can tell you that I am here to stay and I will be here often if for no other reason than to give my support. I will never be able to give back what has been given to me but I won't stop trying.
THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH.

A7wood,

It's certainly normal to have some anxiety, but losing 20 pounds is a sign of worrying a bit too much. Not sure how to help you not be so worried but it is better to keep an eye on your eating and sleeping and try to maintain normal routines so you stay healthy. Stress can really mess you up.

If caught early, bladder cancer is VERY treatable. It all depends on the stage and grade of the tumor. Different treatment approaches for each.

Be sure to tell your doctor that you want to get a copy of your pathology report. You will have to sign a release to get a copy but it is yours and you should have it. Your urologist can help you understand what it says (and doesn't say). We can also help you with that. It is not always easy to interpret and there are lots of folks here with enough experience to help you understand what it says, and what it may imply in terms of treatment.

Good luck on the 1st! Let us know how it goes. You may or may not have a catheter in when you wake up from the surgery. All depends on how much cutting they do. The surgeon should make a cut all the way to the muscle layer to be able to determine how deep the tumor does or doesn't go. Some times, there is no catheter but most of the time, you go home the same day.

Let us know if you have any other questions about the procedure but don't get too far ahead of yourself. First, you will need to know what you're dealing with. It's one step at a time.

All the best!
Mike

Seven

Feb 1st will be the day we all think about you. Our prayers will be with you and I am hoping for "clear margins" afterward. It is OK to be nervous. It is OK to wonder about "the next step"

It is Not OK to give up if you have to take a next step. Most of us have taken a next step, and we are here to help you "get through it"

Now go out there and make us proud. I am one of many that wishes you "NO next step."
