Red..it really should not be done in an office setting ..in order for the surgeon to get all the tumor and margins plus muscle you really need to be in a hospital setting and under anesthesia. I mean OUCH.
Where are you located? Hopefully we can guide you to a major cancer, urological or university center that deals with lots of bladder cancer and biopsies and has an excellent pathological team.
What exactly do you need to understand that you cannot find on this site about a TURB? or bladder cancer in general. We'll help you find it or understand it.

Hi Red...i wish you had found us before your appt. tomorrow. I'm hoping that you are scheduled in a Hospital for a TURB which is a transurethral resection of the bladder tumor. Its a relatively short procedure where you are put under anesthesa and the tumor is removed with part of the muscle so they can get an accurate pathology. You will wake up with a catheter in you and dependent on the Uro it either will be removed or he'll want it in for a couple of days. I hope you are with someone who does a lot of these procedures. Do you know?
If you have any doubts or reservations about this uro or the procedure you can put it off. Has everthing been explained to you?
Where are you located? We want you to be with the best.

I am also new to bladder cancer, however a little farther along than you. I wish I could help you tonight but I am so new and I do not want to tell you something wrong. What I do know is this is a great website with wonderful caring people that have been down this road and are willing to help us.
I can tell you the surgery for me was not bad--very quick and not much pain afterwards. The hard part was waiting for the pathology report to come back. Depending on what you are told you will want to get another opinion. Everyone will tell you to see someone at one of the big cancer centers. I wish I had found this website before I started my BCG treatments.

Good Luck and let us know how your surgery goes.
