Hi Brenda,
You seem to be following my Bladder Cancer (and many others on this site). I had Ta followed 9 months later with CIS. That was 2 yrs 8 months ago.
I went through 24 BCG treatments, so far so good. However, Mike is correct - very close watch. I am still going every three months for a cysto.
We were all "new" at one time, but with all the great information on this site, you will soon be very well versed on the subject of Bladder Cancer :cheer:
The best advice I can give you is to find all the information you can and question everything. Be your own advocate, which you are on the right road, by second opinions @ the top cancer center!
I would still go to the Uro, (they should always do a urine test before BCG) the fact you have blood will disqualify you from BCG this week, but they can also check for an infection. If you have one, they will treat it and continue the BCG as soon as you test "clear".
Glad you found us :)

Brenda,

Glad you found us!!!
As Pat mentioned, you cannot have BCG if there is active bleeding in your bladder. That stuff is live TB vaccine and you DO NOT want it in your blood stream.

If you tell your urologist that you have bleeding you may save a trip because he won't do it if you have bleeding. It can cause sepsis (very bad).

However, he may want to find out WHY you still have bleeding so it seems worth the trip for him to test for infection and maybe have another look see.

Cynthia --- Thanks for the help in getting me to the right place.

I sent an email yesterday to Dr. Grossman via my login through MD Anderson webmail. I also plan to speak with Dr. Sanders tomorrow before my second BCG. I am having some bleeding and burning at the end of urinating.

I feel some relief just making contact with someone who understands what you are feeling---really scared

Thanks again
Brenda
