Marne,
As a Registered Dietitian I can only agree with Momof4 about caution regarding the use of vitamin/nutritional supplements in treating cancer or indeed anything. The best advice is to have a balanced diet based around fresh foods where possible. I am sure you can be referred to a Dietitian for individual advice tailored to suit your needs. We are, unfortunately, often perceived as a needy group and unscrupulous people try to take advantage of us in our quest for a cure.
Regards,
Betsy Mae

Thanks Marne,

I appreciate your thoughts....I just worry about people getting taken advantage of. Keep your eyes and ears open....I definately agree that miracles happen...I just don't know if we have to pay for them...

Wishing you all the Best,
Karen

Marne,

A healthy diet is always a good option, because it makes you feel better...there are different and varying opinions on what however. I suggest that you talk to an oncology nutritionist there should be one at the hospital you are being treated. It is very easy to set up an appoitment with them, and it can even be done while you are sitting in a chair receiving chemo.

As far as vitamins/ suppliments etc...Please be sure to consult with your Dr. and your pharmacist to make sure that there is nothing that you are taking over the counter that could interfere with any of your prescriptions...
Be sure also whenever you have to give your list of drugs to the hospital or anywhere else that ALL of the suppliments are on that list.

Marne, beleive me I wanted to find that fruit/vegetable/vitamin/suppliment that was magic...Just don't spend too much money on them, and don't get roped into any expensive gimics...There are people out there taking advantage of cancer patients because they know we are desparate...it is a shame but it is true...

Does any one have any personal experience with using vitamin supplements and specific diets that assist in battling BC.

Went to the health food store yesterday. They sold me a good multiple vitamin for women something called Perfect Green, cayenne pepper and garlic pills.
I have also read a diet low in carbs and fats and high in broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and brussel sprouts helps. I've that vitamin D (the new miracle vitamin)helps as well as vitamin C combined with K3. Some of you have discussed broccoli sprouts. What are they and where do I get them? Would love to hear about personal opinion or experience?
