patti..i would certainly go for that second opinion...you want to make sure the pathology is not understaged. CIS high grade needs to be watched very closely. Its only into the lamina propria is that right? I am in NC too...there are great hospitals here...Duke is great, Wake Forest Baptist (where my husband goes), and UNC Chappel Hill...I am sure that the others who are also in NC and will chime in too. Second opinions are ALWAYS best...

Hello, My name is Rene and I am writing for my mom. She was diagnosed with bladder cancer insitu two years ago. It was high grade. She had the BCG treatments with good results. She as had periodic cystoscopies and in March noticed some blood in the urine. The March cystoscope was negative. She continued to have hematuria and then two weeks ago had major hematuria. She was scoped on May 29 and one polop (sp) was found. She had the surgery to remove it yesterday and I got the path report today. I am a lab tech at the local hospital so the pathologist asked the doc if I could have it. The results were "high grade invasive urothelial carcinoma". The tumor invades up to the muscularis propria. There is no definitive invasion into the muscularis propria in this biopsy specimen. It has not been graded as I have seen here with the "T". I guess when I speak with the doctor next week we will discuss that. Mom is 74 but in good health otherwise. Right now my heart says to get her to Duke University Med Ctr, which is 40 miles away and have someone yank out the bladder. I need some advice from all of you. I am so thankful to have found you all. Thanks in advance.
