Hi Becky-

How are things going for you?

I'm another young-ish female here. I'm 34 years old. I've only had one tumor (Ta low grade), removed Jan 2008. I'm up for my next cysto at the end of April. So I don't know yet if I will have frequent recurrences, sporadic or maybe never (I can hope, right?). We have a daughter who will be four years old next month. Glad you've found this board!

Best wishes,
Lynn

Becky,

Good luck with your treatments. Sounds like you have your hands full with two small ones, etc. and now this medical condition to monitor. I will keep you in my prayers. I pray you get the right medical attention and insight to do what is best needed to asure you of good health in the future. My two were already in college when I learned I had BC, so can imagine your concerns with young children. Hugs to you and yours. Melodie

Hi Becky,
I am 42 and yes I have had my B/C reoccur frequently. My 1st Cysto was done Oct. where 1 tumor, low grade, stage 1, non invasive was found. I went back in Jan. and there was another one. Went into hospital for the TURB and he found another one (I had just seen him less than 2 weeks prior). It was also a low grade, stage 1, non invasive. I go back in May and he said if finds another one then we will start BCG or Mitomycin treatments. I am not sure which one is the best to go with. If anyone can offer advice on that I would love to hear it.
Becky, my doc told me that I seem to be producing them fairly quickly, but I don't know if this is normal either. Somehow I doubt it. I would love to connect with you. Not sure where you can leave an email address on here. Can we leave it in our posts?? Hope to talk to you soon. Barb

Becky,
I am obviously not a young female like yourself but I have had multiple recurrences of both papillary and cis within the past 11 months. My doctor did not mention "reseeding" but I have read a bit about it on this forum. At first we (my wife and I) were very worried about the recurrences and of course I was discouraged, but my doc reminded us that, so long as the cancer is non-invasive, we can successfully treat it with BCG or Mitymycin and TURBT procedures without having to face bladder removal.

At first my doctor would not take the time to talk to me, but after I began to educate myself by reading postings on this forum I learned what questions to ask and that helped open up a good dialog with my doctor. Another thing I did was to go online and asked questions of Doctor Lamm, who is a nationally recognized authority on bladder cancer. I shared some of Dr. Lamm's responses with my doctor and he was favorably impressed that I took the time to do research on my disease.

Here is a link where you can ask Dr. Lamm:

www.bcgoncology.com/about/contact.html

These doctors are extremely busy but if they know you have taken the time to educate yourself they are more likely to talk to you and share information.

Good luck on your treatment and please stay in touch with the people on this forum -- you will find support and answers here.

David
