Hi Steve:

I'm a newbie too since my husband was diagnosed after similar symptoms last week. What I can say is that your symptoms alone do not necessarily mean bladder cancer. My husband's urologist said that sometimes the prostate can "shed" (for lack of a better word) small blood clots into the urine. That said, you're doing the right thing to get it checked out as soon as possible--for peace of mind as well as health. ALL blood should be reported to a doctor. Whatever the outcome, you are not alone...amazing how common this is (I was very surprised). And the treatments alternatives are many. You will read many stories that are very inspiring on this site and I encourage you to check them out and hold on tight to those who bravely share their experiences outcomes. If your diagnosis is not what you hoped, there are many options--and a measure of comfort knowing what you'e dealing with. Not knowing is the worst, IMO.

Welcome to the board and keep us posted.

Debbie

Steve when you go the urologist he will give you a cystoscopy which is a test with a small tube with a small camera on the end so he can go in there and look around your bladder. They always give you this numbing stuff to make it easier and less painful with this tube being inserted so you willl be ok there. The rest depends on what he sees when he is doing the test and what he sees in your bladder. Everybody that gets one of these is always worried so just make the best of it and as always the waiting is the hardest part but we all been there. Good Luck my Friend, Joe ;)

Hello all,

I'm a 50 year old male. About two months ago, i had my first gross hematuria. Since then it has reoccurred 3 times, usually after moderate exercise.
Uurine has a continuous dark pink color.
Kidney checked out ok, no stone.
I am scheduled to see the urologist in a few days. Not a smoker. I am just wondering what are the possibilities i am facing here. I am really worried, and would really appreciate it if you guys can give me some advise.

Thanks,
Steve
