Whew...glad i'm not in Fla.......i didn't have copies of my slides ..i took the originals to Memorial along with everything else and it didn't cost me zip! Gee i wonder which brilliant politician came up with that law?..and who does it benefit...yep..the hospitals and the doctors. Well if you ever get that appointment with Moffitt they will have to forward everything to them.

Hi Jenz, sorry you are having problems, it is disgraceful how you have been ignored. I am not hearing good reports about doctors these days. Good news that you have finally found professional help. Hope all works out well for you. Good luck.

Pat: Has anyone else had a problem getting a report? I never have.
I think you were treated just horribly.

Until I read it on this forum I had no idea you could get a copy of your report. I emailed my doctor to ask where I could collect the report last Wednesday, I still have not had a reply!

Monday, I phoned the hospital where I had the biopsy done. They were very helpful, I was informed that Florida law dictates that I can't have a copy of my report or the slides. The hospital acts as a 'guardian'
They require at least 72 hours notice to copy the results to a specialist and charge $29 for this service. They do not recommend copying slides as this can impair the actual biopsy result.

I have a friend who is a nurse and apparently here in Fl these reports are something to do with a legal term known as 'chain of custody'

I'm so glad UofA was so helpful to you and is getting you in immediately.
If you call the hospital and tell them who you are going to see in Birmingham and tell them you have to have all your records to take with you ...let us know what they say. If you are refused the reports call this number 1-800-532-5274 ..its the patients advocate foundation and they can help you.
Good girl...i hope this is a much better experience for you........Pat

I wanted to let everyone know that I got an appointment tomorrow at UAB.

Pat, I call the number you gave me. Thank you. They were very nice to talk to. I told them how I felt and how I felt when I left the doctors office yesterday and they were there to help. Also, I took an over the counter med for the swelling.Something like women take for their period. These doctors did nothing for me. They never checked my bp or checked my fever or drawed any blood. They are as useless as tits on a bore hog.lol.

I did ask for my path report and the doctor walked out. As I was checking out I told the lady checking me out that I wanted a copy of the path report and she gave me what looked like the path on a urine test.I did not look until I got home, I was ready to get out of there. I think she did not give me the right thing.I have to call today and get all my records to carry with me.

Hopefully, tomorrow, I will find something out.

Thanks to everyone who encourged me to go further for help.

Jennifer

Jennifer i think what they gave you was Lasix..a diuretic...how much are you taking and for how long? You have to watch your potassium with this drug as you can get dehydrated. Here's a link www.drugs.com/lasix.html
The number for the U. of Alabama at Birmingham Comprehensive Cancer Center
The hot line number and the appointment number 1-800-UAB-0933
A UAB nurse will answer and assist you.
Its time you got that second opinion very quickly. I wouldn't mess with your current uro's at this point. I'm sure if you tell them everything you have told us they should get you in quickly.
If there is a pathology report you should be able to get it from the hospital. Tell them you are going to another doctor and you need it. I can't believe they would refuse you. Has anyone else had a problem getting a report? I never have.
I think you were treated just horribly.
Which antibiotic are you on now..anything different? sometimes pain meds can enhance the metabolism thus making your drug less effective and because you are on the antibiotic the urine screen may not have actually reflected what is going on..it could mask the results. Did he suggest any pyridium for the burning? my guess is not!
Please make the call to Birmingham tomorrow...its a free call..you'll talk to a nurse..maybe actually get some informed answers and hopefully they can get you in with a great urologist in short order.
Please get back with us....we do care.......Pat

Well Jenz,

All in all that sounds like a big waste of your money. Just the fact that these people were not concerned enough to return your initial phone calls makes the steam start coming out of my head.

I'm with Holly. I think it's time to find a Dr. who cares.

Did you think to ask for a copy of your path reports?

Buds,
Rosemary
