I'm writing this comment in case it helps someone who got a positive result with Cologuard. My mom did the test a month ago and it turned out positive. Her colonoscopy was scheduled for a month later. When I scheduled the colonoscopy, they told me that usually this test comes out positive when there is an advanced polyp, cancer or it could be a false positive (13% rate according to the test). Well, it was a stressful month. She did her colonoscopy today and the doctor told her, her colon looks super clean and it's in excellent condition. I will just advice to not worry too much like I did if this test comes out positive, since it seems to be giving out a lot of false positives, so nothing is said until you do the colonoscopy, like in my mom's case.

Thanks Alan.

I had a colonoscopy and there were seven polyps, six of which were precancerous and one of those was rather large and almost to the point were the doctor couldn't remove it. I would have had to have some of my colon removed if that were the case. But the doctor did nip them and sent them for tests. None of them were cancerous. But because one polyp was very large and aggressive, the doctor wants me to have another colonoscopy in a year. That's not too bad.

So, in short, Cologuard may have prevented me from losing some of my colon or even developing cancer.

You simply won't know ANYTHING until the colonoscopy. As you said a good number are false positive, can be internal hemorrhoids, ulcerative pockets, diverticulitis, on an on.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

I have been bladder cancer free for over two years now and my next cysto is scheduled for early January. I'm hoping that the good news continues. I do have one blip on my radar screen. I did the Cologuard colon cancer screening test and it came back positive. My doc wants me to have a full blown colonoscopy to "see what's going on". My doc said it doesn't mean that I have colon cancer and I read that there is about a 14% false positive rate with the test; and I feel fine and I don't have any colon cancer symptoms, so I am not too worried, but... We'll see what's up soon enough.
