Thought I would wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend.

Soooooo, I have had Gemzar on 5/11 (1st one), then Cisplatin on 5/12. Gemzar again on 5/18 with blood work. White count low but still got the Gemzar, however, went for shots of neupogen for 3 days after that. Back on 5/25 for Gemzar, however I was "rejected" *lol*. Seems my platelets were too low. So next week, 6/1, is my appt. with oncologist and blood work. Sure hope platelets increase by then? Anyone have this problem so early on with chemo or is it because I am sooooo small? :S Anyone remember what their platelet count was when it was considered too low for chemo?

Side effects very minimal. Very, very mild queasy after first Gemzar and Cisplatin, but that went away. Had an itchy rash on different parts of body, nurse said to use benadryl cream. That is ok. Only other thing was vein in left arm, where needle for Cisplatin and Potassium drip, became a little inflamed and tender. Still somewhat tender, but somewhat better. Been using warm compresses now and then. Anyone have this problem? Sorry for all the questions? Call it a "female thingy"! :)

I am staying very active, both indoors and outdoors. Love being outdoors whenever I can. Whether it be walking or working in my flower beds.

Huggssss to all!

Thanks Motomike and Herb! You guys are so sweet! Day 3 after the 1st round and I don't think I have any reason to complain. I believe keeping busy and not "waiting" for something to happen is the key! Of course that is not always easy! *lol* I do notice that my water doesn't taste the same but other than that no major food taste changes.

I have heard that the fatigue & perhaps other effects may set in more after the 2nd or 3rd round, but I will deal with it one way or another. As for my hair, well I am hoping it just thins if anything, but if it is more drastic I shall borrow one of my sons caps! *lol* As petite as I am I just may be mistaken for a guy!

Hope all are having a nice Sunday. Count your blessings!
Big Hugggsss and prayers coming your way!

Yes a little anxiety is really okay I keep my stash of Ativan close by --- my aniety would come even when I was having good time and feeling up, kind of like getting a cold --- no rhyme or reason just part of journey hardly ever overtakes me now but if it does I am ready :-) Hang in there LitBit: off to little chapel altar in the valley and I will remember you there this morning. OK so you have tried the 2 major ingredients without negative effects. Just relax. The rest is just more of the same. We all have experienced loss of hair. I’m sure this is more trauma for women but believe me: it grows back quickly. Women have those really cool scarf type wraps that are so attractive and popular with Hollywood stars when they want to run to the market.

I kept hoping that the Chemo would confuse my DNA and my white hair would grow back a good healthy brown but I guess I needed stronger Chemo. HMmmm maybe I needed better insurance!
Cheers Lilbit.

 Do I see some extra pounds on you MotoMike?? Which did you go for...StarBucks, the cookies, milkshakes or all?

Had my Gemzar on Wednesday, and Cisplatin on Thursday. So far so good. Staying positive, a little anxiety here and there but hey, I'm allowed right?! *lol*. Been staying busy with things I enjoy and of course things like laundry and housework. Go for Gemzar again this coming Wednesday and following Wednesday. Then one week break.

Hope everyone is doing well...keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers!
